It is Monday, which means John has to wake up very early, around 5.30 a.m., while it is barely light outside. He sees the newspaper of last week on the kitchen table. On the front page, there’s another war story. While he reads the article about it, quite frustrated, he eats a very poor breakfast. He doesn’t get paid well at the army, so there is no money for fancy food. When he is ready to go, he has to hurry to catch his bus, since he has to commute. When he arrives at the military base, he spends the entire morning learning how to fight, mostly by practicing shooting. He always hates this part, because he doesn’t see himself as the kind of person who hurts other creatures. At lunch time he unpacks his lunch, which is again very poor. After lunch it is time to train some more. Now it is all about getting in shape, so they basically do cardio exercises. This part of the training he actually does like, since he is quite the sporty guy. The training lasts until 17 o’clock and he is kind of exhausted when he runs back to the bus stop. When he gets home he makes himself a quick dinner. He eats his dinner in front of the TV, while channel surfing. After watching television for about 2,5 hours, he is ready to go to bed. It is now around 21.30 p.m. After all, he has to get up early the next day...
